NPL Group Community Fund Awards

Awarded in May 2018 through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund

Woodlands Community Sports have secured the long-term future of this facility through Community ownership and management. This enables wider access, free use for the next door Primary School children, more affordable rates, work experience opportunities, community involvement and volunteering and increased physical activity.

The facility is open from 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm Sat and Sun. It provides free access to all parts to the local primary school during school hours. The facility operates on a commercial basis providing local and affordable hire rates for the football pitch and games hall. All profits will be reinvested back into the facility.

The facility is extremely visible next to a busy town centre road and after years of neglect and decreasing opening hours it is obvious to the thousands who pass by every day that it is once again open for business.

The project was enabled through an award of £200,000 by Avondale Environmental Limited, part of the NPL Group through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.
